Another meal at Mines
Thursday, 22 November 2012 12:41
It's always tough to spend your first Thanksgiving away from friends and family, but for some School of Mines students it wasn't so bad.    That's because faculty, staff, and generous friends donated home-cooked, traditional meals to Residence Life, which hosted a free get-together for students unable to travel home for the holiday.

The gathering was held in the campus's Surbeck Center and about a dozen students took part in the festivities.   Freshman Hunter Joseph says, "I think it's actually pretty nice. I mean, I thought I was going to be sitting in the dorm doing nothing during Thanksgiving. Then I got the email about this, and I was like 'Yay!' And it's nice to be here with all the people...some of my friends, eating good food, and I think it's really kind of them."   Some students say they opted not to travel because of expense or because they are already planning to travel for the Christmas holiday.
