Black Friday is now just a little over 24 hours away, but for some retailers, the sales just can't wait as Black Friday has moved in on Thanksgiving Thursday. Local stores have spent a lot of time gearing up for the big crowds that come with one of their biggest weekends of the year.

Not many people are out and about doing their Christmas shopping just yet. But some would say this is just the calm before the storm.

Cabela's Merchandise Manager Greg Cooper says, "We're expecting big crowds, we're opening the doors at 5 a.m. on Friday. To the first 600 people in line we've got prizes valued over $6,400 for those folks."

Although there aren't any lines yet, Cooper says they expect people to start lining up sometime Thursday. For now, a line of construction cones is set in place ready for the crowd of people to barge through the doors. Cooper says they bring in a couple dozen extra employees to help with the big day and he says they're prepared to accommodate the needs of those who are willing to wait.

Cooper says, "We are also offering some amenities to the folks that are going to be waiting in line, so those folks that come Thursday afternoon, starting real early on Friday morning we're going to offer complimentary Danishes, coffee and hot chocolate to those folks. We're also bringing in some portable heaters and some portable restrooms for their convenience while they wait."

The Rushmore Mall is also gearing up for Black Friday. They decided to do something a little different this year.

Rushmore Mall Marketing Manager Kat Stark says, "We are ready to go with our first ever midnight opening. We are so excited; we even have stores that are going to be opening prior to midnight."

Stark says they changed their mind on the opening time for one specific reason.

Stark says, "Our shoppers. Our shoppers really want to get a head start on their holiday shopping and a lot of times it is just fun, you know, I mean they're shopping, but they're also having a great time, especially when their relatives or loved ones are home for the holidays and it's a great way to have some entertainment and shop as well."
