Sunday Slapshot

The Rapid City Rush are off to a solid, if not unspectacular start to the 2012 season but when you consider the awful way the got started last year, I think we'll all take it.

This week your weekly Rush recap gets a make over so allow me to unveil the first ever version of the Sunday Slapshot. Let's start by taking a look at the week that was. The Rush played four games this week starting with a Tuesday night match-up with Arizona and the Rush walked away with a 3-2 victory as Tim Boron stopped 28 of 30 shots.

On Friday night Fort Worth came to town and topped the Rush 2-1 in a game the Rush probably should have won. Boron was brilliant again stopping 21 of 23 shots. Rusty Masters got Rapid City's lone goal.

The Rush jumped on the bus after the game and made the overnight trip to Missouri where they topped the Mavs 4-3 on Saturday night. Riley Weselowski, Jarrett Konkle, Jeff Lee, and Jordan Behler all lit the lamp for Rapid City.

And then Sunday the Rush played the rare Sunday afternoon game at Quad City. The two teams needed shootout to determine the winner and the Mallards got the best of the Rush as they won 3-2.

The loss dropped the Rush one place in the current CHL standings as they fall two points behind Arizona. Allen continues to be the crown jewel of the league to this point in the season and the Rush are currently sitting in fourth place and rounding out the top ten we have Tulsa and Quad City in 6th and 7th place. The Denver Cutthroats currently occupy the 8th spot followed by Fort Worth and Missouri.
