Headed into Saturday's match up the Yellowjackets had the home field advantage AND they were riding the momentum of a two game winning streak that included a shut out win over Fort Lewis last Saturday. Meanwhile Mines hadn't won a game since October 13th, so on paper it looked like Black Hills State had the advantage, but in this series anything can happen. We're in the first quarter with the Yellowjackets knocking on the door. They give it to old reliable, Bryar DeSanti who scampers in from a yard out. It's 7-3 Black Hills State. The Hardrockers fire back. Mike Zanuta turns and hands it off to former athlete of the week Jahmel Rover. Jahmel explodes through the middle, dances out of a couple of tackles and stiff arms the last defender before being escorted out of bounds. They would follow it up with a three and out. On the punt, Colton Jelden can't handle the bad snap. The Yellowjackets Jade Knodell is there to wrestle away the loose ball and it's Black Hills State going the other way. The Yellowjackets take advantage, Ward Anderson against hands it to DeSanti who hops across the goal line for his second touchdown of the day, he would go on to score 4 on the day. Black Hills State rolls the Hardrockers 35-6. -Cory Coppock |
