State Archives preserve history

This month South Dakota celebrates 123 years of statehood and over that time, South Dakotans have had to face their fair shares of hardships.    The Archives preserves a host of photographs, diaries and newspaper articles that give true insight to the struggles of the state's earliest settlers.

State Archivist Chelle Somsen says, "It's really, it kind of makes you proud of our heritage of our state knowing the people that started here."   Coming up tonight at nine, we finish our two part series looking at the Archives by examining how the Spanish Flu of 1918 took its toll on western South Dakota.
