Buffalo auction to be held Saturday print

Just like the enormously popular buffalo roundup in Custer State Park every fall, the buffalo auction is also a yearly benchmark in the Park.   Each year, herd managers sell surplus animals.   And Saturday is auction day.

Starting at 10 o'clock, 256 bison will be sold to buyers from across the country and around the world.  Park Resource Program Manager Gary Brundige says officials have decided to sell more animals this year than initially planned because of the summer's drought.  Park officials say the weather should be good, and they are expecting a good crowd for the buffalo sale.
