Family upset over sentence in fatal DUI case

58-year old Kenneth Williams of Rapid City was the driver in an accident last December that killed a pedestrian, 51-year old Terry Brown of Rapid City. An original charge of manslaughter was dropped when there was doubt as to whether fault could be proven and Williams later pleaded no contest to second offense DUI. But Thursday in court, Brown's family wanted prison time.

Brown's sister told Williams that he ruined her family's lives.

Judge Craig Pfeifle called it a difficult case, no longer a manslaughter case, but still with extreme pain for the family. Pfeifle sentenced Williams to 360 days in jail and suspended 260 of those, with one year probation.

A civil case against Williams is expected to be filed.
