Rapid City man sentenced on child pornography charges |

A 36-year old Rapid City man is heading to prison after being sentenced Thursday afternoon on three child pornography charges. Judge Robert Mandel sentenced Michael Vinton to three 10-year prison terms, with those three running at the same time. The state argued for a 20-year sentence, citing the graphic videos Vinton had with children as young as babies, and a video Vinton had recorded of himself having sex with a 16-year old girl.
Vinton told Judge Mandel that there was no excuse for his crimes, and said he was ashamed of his actions. He did cite his own exposure to pornography and frequent abuse as a child.
