Southern Hills meeting showcases tools for fighting pine beetles

Even though there is already snow on the ground and pine beetles are hibernating for the winter, the battle against the beetle goes on. Many landowners are taking advantage of the beetle's down-time to get organized for the battle against the pine beetle next year.

And a series of seminars have been held around the Black Hills area to bring landowners up to date on what their options are. Featured at one of the seminars in Hill City Saturday was a tree spraying operation that offers to treat trees for as little as 14 dollars per tree.

Frank Carroll says, "And the object of this is to help homeowners to do the one thing that we know works almost one hundred percent; spraying trees. When they try to into the tree they die."

Other seminars were held this past week in Rapid City and in Deadwood.
