Hundreds bid fond farewell to George McGovern print

Friends, family and colleagues offer one last goodbye to the late Sen. George McGovern. McGovern died Sunday at the age of 90. Hundreds gathered in Sioux Falls for the former lawmaker's funeral Friday. The funeral for the three-time presidential candidate brought out politicians from both sides of the aisle, many speaking highly of McGovern's accomplishments and integrity during the two-hour service.

Former Sen. Tom Daschle says, "When George accepted his party's nomination, he offered this benediction: 'May God grant each of us the wisdom to cherish this good land and meet the great challenge that beckons us all home.' Now that he's beckoned home, we will always be grateful for the ways that through his life, through his work and through his vision, George lifted us higher in achieving that challenge."

Today's service capped two days of remembrances for the South Dakota Democrat.McGovern will be buried in a private ceremony in Washington.
