She says her ancestral heritage is the heart of her commitment when it comes to her glass artwork.  Angela Babby uses all of her skills to tell her ancestral stories in her most recent exhibit at the Dahl Arts Center "Wolakota."

"Wolakota" includes more than 30 pieces of fused, stained and mosaic glass art.  Babby says this exhibit includes her oldest work with her newest work and includes all the things she loves.  Glass Mosaic Artist Angela Babby says, "Wolakota is a wonderful word. I've actually named my last three shows that because it stands for your spiritual essence and connection to nature, but it also is a word that means, it's the closest thing in the Lakota language to art, the word art, and so I just like how it encompasses not only my subject matter, but my belief system as well, that we're all connected and that we should treat each other with respect."  "Wolakota" is open to the public until February 3rd.  You also have a chance to join Babby for an in-depth discussion on her inspiration and process for "Wolakota" Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Dahl.
