Catholic Social Services hold annual meeting
Sunday, 21 October 2012 15:03
Catholic Social Services is honoring some of the movers and shakers in our area. Established in the wake of the Rapid City flood in 1972, the organization is celebrating 40 years of serving Western South Dakota.

At Sunday's meeting the prestigious Founder's award was presented to The Sisters of Saint Martin Monestary, for their service to the Diocese for 124 years.

Executive Director of Catholic Social Services Jim Kinyon says, "The Sisters have done incredible things. Everything from establishing hospitals in the black hills area, establishing education, and about various ministries involving service and charity throughout our region. It's just humbling to be able to honor a group that actually pre-exists our state, it even pre-exists the Diocese of Rapid City."

Governor Daugaard was the keynote speaker and addressed the current state of human services as well as the current state of families.
