Some teachers from across the state took some time out of their day to learn about archery in part of a National Archery in the Schools Program.

About a dozen teachers took part in the program to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports among students .Before the teachers can present the archery course to their students they must undergo an 8 hour National Archery in the Schools Program Basic Archery Instructor Training Program.

Outdoor Campus-West Director Chad Tussing says, "It provides some great training for them and it gives them another tool they can use with their kids, like I mentioned, not all kids are interested or able to play football, play basketball, that sort of thing. There is a great sport that just about anyone of almost any activity level and ability can do and can try and have a great time and from our side of things it also sparks a lot of interest in doing something that gets kids outdoors and that's a big thing for us."

The program brings the sport of archery to millions of students across the United States.
