Pow Wow's Grand Entry dances into Civic Center
Friday, 05 October 2012 16:16
The Black Hills Pow Wow continued at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center with the traditional Grand Entry. This is the first of four Grand Entries that will take place over the three-day event.

More than 12-hundred dancers and 40 drum groups took to the floor at the same time. The president of the Black Hills Pow Wow Association says it's a time to celebrate culture and unity and to strengthen the community in the Black Hills area.

Association President Stephen Yellow Hawk says, "It's very important because it gets all of the different dancers out there at once and you see all the beautiful colors, and just the vibrant energy you're going to see of having all the dancers out there at once and listening to that music, it's just a beautiful sight to see of all them out there at once." There will be another Grand Entry Saturday at 1p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 1 p.m.
