On December 20th of last year South Dakota Mines announced that Stacy Collins would be the guy to lead the Hardrocker football program into the Division II ranks. In his eyes, one of the most important things he needed to do for this program was to start stocking up on division two talent. And one of the new guys making the biggest impact is this week's athlete of the week, Jahmel Rover. Rover introduced himself to the Hardrocker faithful two weeks ago against William Jewell where he rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns. One of the guys in charge of opening up holes for Rover is senior Brian Freed. Rover came to Mines over the off season from Idaho State where he had already earned his degree. There were several schools after him at the division two level but Mines featured a few things that others could not. Having played at a division one school, Jahmel was familiar with what it was like playing football at a high level and he has used that experience to help guide South Dakota Mines through this season. Congratulations to Jahmel Rover, this week's Black Hills Fox Powerade Athlete of the Week. Cory Coppock |
