You don't have much time left to enjoy the fall colors, courtesy of the Aspens, Ashes, and Maples of the Black Hills National Forest.
The fall colors are showing up in Black Hills at full volume this year. The colors are lasting a little longer this year in comparison to other years, possibly because of a lack of wind this fall. This fall's stable, dry weather has allowed the leaves to stay on the trees. It's also meant fewer of your neighbor's leaves in your back yard to rake up. As is usually the case, the best places for fall color viewing are Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park, Vanocker Canyon, and some of the Forest Service Roads in the western Hills. -Al Van Zee |
