PETA strips down to promote eating like a vegan

Two members of PETA stood nearly naked in downtown Rapid City earlier Tuesday in an effort to make people think twice about eating meat. The two young ladies wore nothing except for some signs that said, "All animals have the same parts-Go vegan" along with body paint that mimicked a butcher's diagram and some skin colored tights.

This was all part of an effort to show South Dakotans that factory-farmed animals are made of flesh and blood just like humans.

PETA spokeswoman Leila Sleiman says they hope to expose people to the benefits of going vegan. Sleiman says, "Compassion is sexy and a lot of people don't realize that a simple lifestyle change like what you eat can reduce your chances of heart disease, cancer, and obesity."

Aaron Richards says, "I eat meat probably six days a week right now. I used to have a one day a week where I'd eat tofu or fish. I have cut down my protein; I've been eating a lot more nuts and beans lately."

Sleiman went on to say that they hope to persuade people to think of animals as more than just a walking entree.
