Weekend festivities get a little dirty in Hermosa

The organizers were calling it the "Mud-Bog Boogaloo" down at Hermosa Saturday afternoon as about two dozen trucks took on the mud holes at the new mud course north of town.  In the second big event of the 2012 mud season, Ranch class racers once again tried to make it through a course with four big mud holes that stopped most of the contestants.

The super-stock class participants had more success.  The organizers say the Mud Bog is set to become a regular event in Hermosa now that the Mud Bog racing association has taken over the old motor-cross track.

Dan Holsworth says, "Got my kids and us involved in it. And we took it to the next level where we ended up moving over to this track. We've now purchased the land, so we have a home forever. Taking it to the another level of extreme with the trucks, to the motors to, as you can see, the turn-out."

All proceeds from the Mud Bog events are donated to local charities.  This month's races were co-sponsored by the Naja Shriners.
