The hot, dry temperatures mixed with a little wind are prompting red flag warnings throughout the region. Even though we're supposed to see a bit of a cool down Thursday, crews say we may not see any real relief until winter. Lt. Brent Long says, "We're going to need either a really long, slow soaking, where we're getting inches of rain over a period of time, allowing it to soak into the ground and not just have that run off water. Snowfall might be our best bet at this point." Lt. Long reminds residents to be extremely cautious with these conditions. He says with major wildfires burning in Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado, firefighting resources are stretched thin. -Zach Nugent |
