Runners were encouraged to take part, but walkers could join in as well.  The organizers say proceeds from the event will go to a community charity.

Sarah Morrison says, "All the money that we've made, we're going to put it back into the community. In November we are going to be voting on what non-profit organization we want to give back to, and do that some time before Christmas."

This is the first Heroes Wear Blue run/walk. The organizers say they will hold another event like this one next year.
