Rapid Transit offers expanded service

The Rapid Transit System is offering expanded service in Rapid City with the addition of a new route the Coolidge Route.  It was added to serve parts of Rapid that weren't being reached.  Stops along the new Coolidge Route include Western Dakota Tech, Kmart, Rushmore Crossing, Walmart North, and the new Walmart on the south side, as well as Rapid City Central High School, the Rapid City Public Library and the V-A Clinic, just to name a few.

Transit Division Manager Rich Sagen says, "We really had some areas that were not only under served, but really didn't have any service at all in the past. And we're able to use a considerable expansion with this, and we think we're going to be in some really lucrative areas for transit."  R-T-S is offering free rides on all six routes through Saturday to introduce the new Coolidge Route to the public.  Sagen says with free rides this week, the system has seen record-breaking days.  About 21-hundred people have been transported over the last three days.
