Elephants make their first appearance at Central States Fair

A couple of BIG attractions at the Central States Fair are drawing a crowd all on their own.  Have Trunk Will Travel is a company based out of California and their focus is strictly on elephants.  This is their first year at the fair, where they give elephant rides and take pictures.

Dixie and Rosie are Asian elephants and their trainer says it is a rare opportunity to experience them in person.  The company says people just love to visit these giant animals.

Trainer David Smith says, "They're usually pretty amazed, you know, in awe. Just, they want to feel them, experience as much as they can while they're with them, to be able to pet them and feel them move as they're riding. All that stuff they just love, and just to watch them. People will stand here at the fence and watch them eat or as they walk just for hours, some people will just be completely immersed in watching the elephants."

Have Trunk Will Travel is open from noon to 10 p.m. Rides are $7 dollars a person and an extra $10 for a picture.
