Slack-lining a growing trend in Spearfish
Friday, 17 August 2012 16:48
It's one of the newest growing crazes in the Spearfish college community. It's called "slack-lining" and its fans say the concept couldn't be any simpler. Participants just attach a rope between two trees and attempt to walk across it.

They say even though it's a simple idea, mastering the 'sport' requires plenty of time and discipline. Danny Lerwick says, "You find out that it takes a lot of time, energy and patience. You have to completely re-learn a whole new thing. It's like having to learn how to ride a bike or ski. You have to train your brain to do something completely new that it's never done." Lerwick says the sport of slack-lining has plenty of health benefits, from improving balance and coordination, to strengthening your core.
