Animal sanctuary serves to educate humans

Since opening in the fall of 1999, the Spirit of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary has provided a home to animals of all shapes and sizes. Many of them suffered abuse or ill treatment before coming to the sanctuary, and volunteers say it's their duty to share those stories.

Volunteer Kathy Smiley says, "One of our main purposes is to educate everybody from the age of three on up about the plight of these animals and what can be done to help them." The sanctuary will be hosting a family fun day on September 22nd with other special events planned around Halloween and Christmas. For more information, you can visit SpiritoftheHillsSanctuary.org.
