Lakota art on display at the Journey
Saturday, 11 August 2012 14:51
It's billed as a way for both local and out-of-state tribal artists to gather and sell their crafts. Saturday afternoon the Journey Museum hosted a Lakota arts and crafts show. Coordinators say proceeds from table registration at the show will be donated to the Native American Council of Tribes, an organization that provides educational and cultural activities for inmates at the South Dakota State Penitentiary.

The show's organizer says the expo aims to showcase artists of all kinds.

Marilyn Winters says, "This is open for everyone that is talented at what they're doing and I just want to make a difference for our people and I want everyone involved in it."

The Lakota Arts fair will continue Sunday at the Journey from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
