And it doesn't hurt having a bit of wine presence between Hill City and the other locations right around this area." Hill City has become well-known for its wineries. From Stone Faces Winery to Naked Winery to Prairie Berry Winery, there is no shortage of wine to be found around the Heart of the Hills. The folks at Stone Faces Winery just north of Hill City say they love talking about wine, as well as pouring it. Ward says, "We have a great product in the bottle. Our wine maker is fantastic at what he does, and we have a range from really sweet wines, different fruit wines, red wines, blush wines and more traditional red dry wines. So we really have something for every single kind of palette when you come into Stone Faces Winery." And you'll find some interesting names on the bottles here. Stone Faces Winery offers wines like Tickle Me Rhubarb, Rushmore White and their award-winning honey wine, Buck Naked. And speaking of naked, the nearby Naked Winery says the focus here is on removing the peck-sniffery from their wine. Senior Tasting Room Associate at Naked Winery Mike Hackett says, "Our wines are all traditional grape style wines, European grape types. The naked part comes from, we add no sugars ... we don't do any grape fruit blends that sort of thing, so really the naked grape, great wines, fun atmosphere." Hackett says they focus on more traditional grape wines with slightly naughty names. One of the most popular being Booty Call. Hackett says, "With our labels, a little thing we say is it's all in the tease, but they have fun with the wine. Wine drinking is to be enjoyed. Drink what you like, where you like, how you like, but we do have serious wines to also back that up." So when you travel to the Heart of the Hills, don't forget about the "wine country of the Hills" where you might find a unique wine, with a unique name, to please your palette.
