23rd Annual Great Black Hills Duck Race
Sunday, 29 July 2012 15:01
It was plenty warm out there Sunday afternoon the perfect conditions for about 18-thousand rubber ducks to hit the water.  The 23rd annual Great Black Hills Duck race made quite a splash Sunday all while serving as the biggest fundraiser of the year for Children's Miracle Network.

All money raised from the race will stay right here in the Black Hills to fund medical equipment and services to help ill and injured children in the area.  The Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation says things shaped up well with fundraising right on par with last year's event.

Betty Quasney of the RCRH Foundation says, "We are close to being about where we were last year at this time. We had 1400 ducks when we started this morning. We sold quite a few, I don't know what the exact number is right now, but we'll probably raise a little over $95,000 this year. We have 42 prizes. Our top prize is $5,000 sponsored by McDonald's with a chance to win $1-million from Med 5 Federal Credit Union."

And we have results from Sunday afternoon's race.  Deb Bestgen of Rapid City took the top prize of $5-thousand dollars with Darlyce Bollwerk and Joanne O'Brien taking home $3-thousand and $25-hundred dollars respectively.
