Pringle residents grateful for firefighters' work

With a brief break from a seemingly unending run of fires, Black Hills residents are saying thanks to firefighters. Residents in Pringle say they wouldn't have a town to live in if it weren't for fire crews who battled the recent Myrtle Fire.

When the Myrtle Fire was burning full bore, the nervous residents of Pringle watched from the front porch of a local restaurant as it burned right to the top of the last ridge east of town.

Most of the firefighters are gone now, fighting other fires in other places. But many residents say they won't forget what the firefighters did for Pringle in the summer of 2012.

One resident named Dennis says, "I think they did a phenomenal job. I'd just like to thank all the men and women who came out here and helped from other states, and came out here and helped fight this fire. We all really appreciate it."

The Myrtle Fire was declared 100 percent contained on Tuesday night. Crews are still working to maintain fire lines and rebuild fences. The fire burned more than 10,000 acres.
