Spearfish festival more than just arts and crafts
Friday, 20 July 2012 16:00
One of the largest art events to hit the Black Hills began Friday evening in Spearfish.  The 35th annual Festival in the Park features more than 180 vendors from across the United States.  Activities include children's games, music, food, and of course crafts.

The executive director of the Spearfish Arts Center says the festival draws in between 25 and 30 thousand people.  Spearfish Arts Center Executive Director Sian Young says, "You're getting nothing but high quality vendors, you're getting a broad variety of vendors. It's set in the beautiful Spearfish City Park which has lots of shade, right down by the creek, has a lot of entertainment for families and children beyond what we're providing. You've got the playground, you've got the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery, so the setting is absolutely wonderful as well."  The festival runs through Sunday afternoon at the Spearfish City Park.
