Johnson agrees with tax cuts

Senator Tim Johnson says he agrees with President Barack Obama's statement made earlier this month on the need for Congress to act to extend tax cuts for middle class families.

Johnson says extending middle class tax cuts would benefit 98 percent of Americans making less than $250-thousand dollars for another year. The proposal would also extend tax cuts for 97 percent of small business owners. Johnson says for the last decade the super rich have benefited and it's time for them to pay their fair share. He says if Congress fails to act,  the average middle class family will see taxes go up by $2,200 dollars on January 1st.Johnson says Republicans in Congress are the ones holding back on extended tax cuts. But Republicans argue that the Bush-era tax cuts should be extended for everyone not just the middle class. The Senate is expected to vote on the proposal later this month.
