The Rapid City Fire Department says the burn ban is in effect, with the National Weather Service forecasting the fire danger Tuesday to be in the very high category.
All outdoor burning will be prohibited to include outdoor appliances such as chimineas, fireplace, recreational fires, fire pits, etc. Typical cooking appliances such as LP gas fire appliances remain acceptable. The ban will be automatically suspended when the Fire Danger Indiex falls below the very high category and will go back into effect when the index goes to very high or greater. Charcoal grilling is allowed in appropriate receptacles that reduce the possibility of sparks and embers spreading outside the cooking area. |
