The Center just recently moved into a brand new facility next to the Mystic Ranger District Headquarters along South Highway 16 in Rapid City. And with the intense fire activity of the past few weeks, it has been a very busy place, staffed with personnel from all over the country. Mike Johnson says, "So, currently there's as regular, initial attack dispatch side which is about ten people right now. And then there's sixteen additional people plus a buying team that will help with the supplies and equipment for these other large fires." As you can imagine, the center is wired for the latest communications technology including internet, wireless phone, GPS, and emergency radio.
