The opera house in Lead is giving locals a chance to kick back, relax and enjoy the sounds of talent from around the region this summer.  The Historic Homestake Opera House is presenting "Concerts in the Courtyard" each Thursday night through August.

This is the inaugural season for the outdoor concert series.  Opera house executive director Sarah Carlson says, "Back in the fall we started talking about creative ideas, ways to use this building in ways we haven't before. We invited a lot of the community members, young and old, to come and talk about some ideas. You know, opera houses were not normally used just for opera. It was used for all kinds of things, and we continue to look for other ways to use it."  Last night, South Dakota singer/songwriter Jami Lynn entertained the crowd, along with fellow guitarist Dylan Lewis.  The cost per show is $10 per person money that will go into the 2014 Theater Restoration Fund.
