Thursday, 05 July 2012 08:06
As of Thursday night, fire crews say the Oil Creek Fire, burning near Newscastle, Wyoming, has grown to over 60,700 acres and is an estimated 40% contained.  The cause is still under investigation, but firefighters say winds have been a challenge in fighting the flames these past few days.  Reports show about 521 personnel are working the fire, with the help of three helicopters, 11 dozers, six water tenders and 49 engines.

Officials say Level 2 evacuations remain in place along Skull Creek Road, Elk Grove Trail, Ertman Road and all residences within the perimeter. Level 1 evacuations remain in effect for Osage, Newcastle and along Hwy 16 between Newcastle and Osage.  We'll have more on the fire tonight on The Six and Black Hills FOX News at 9.
