SDHP ramped up patrols prior to holiday

The South Dakota Highway Patrol was out on the roads Tuesday in a high-visibility "Operation Safe" campaign to remind motorists to make safe driving decisions during their holiday travel.  Across the state, troopers issued 260 citations and 779 warnings to motorists that day.

Troopers also responded to two injury crashes, nine non-injury crashes and assisted 49 motorists stranded on the highway.

The Highway Patrol, the Office of Highway Safety and law enforcement agencies across South Dakota have made safe travel the focus of a summer-long campaign called "100 Days of Heat."
