Of the three original candidates for Ward 4, the top two vote getters from the June 6th election are on the ballot; Amanda Scott and Theresa Spry. The two women are anxious to find out the results of the election because both say they want to improve Rapid City. Spry says, "It isn't like I don't know this community because I do. I've been in the private sector. We've owned small businesses, my husband and I. We've lived in our house for 40 years in north Rapid; we have five kids that we raised there. I think that I know Rapid City very, very well. I also feel like I have the background to be part of the city council." Scott says, "I really think I could help contribute with the current mayor and city council in moving that progression forward so that we can actually then once we get the efficiencies and procedures that city hall streamlines, we can really start opening up and really taking care and tackling some of the issues of this city." Voting runs Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m and all polling sites in Ward 4 will be open just as they would during regular elections. Darren Leeds |
