The SoDak Anime Convention kicked off with an opening ceremony.  Of course, with a convention like this a little creativity is encouraged when it comes to your wardrobe.  The word "anime" is an abbreviation for the word "animation".  The anime form of art originated in Japan.  The convention runs through Sunday at the civic center.
