Antique firearms among items at Deadwood auction
Friday, 15 June 2012 12:21
Every year some of the most interesting and valuable historical items of the Wild West are auctioned off during Wild Bill Days in Deadwood, and this year that auction is taking place at the new Deadwood Mountain Grand.

Sponsored and organized by Dakota Plains Auctions, the event brings in antique firearms, holsters, saddles, paintings, clothing and a host of other items associated with the early days of the West, and of Deadwood. And again this year, Colt Firearms has donated a Single Action 45 Old West handgun.

Rick Olesen says, "We do. We've got Colt back here. They donate a factory engraved gun. We sell the gun and all the proceeds to the Days of '76 Museum, one of our pet projects."

This weekend's auction is accompanied by the Wild Bill Days firearms show, also at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. The auction and show continue tomorrow and Sunday.
