Some new technology may soon be changing surgical protocol at Rapid City Regional Hospital. This is the da Vinci surgical robot. The new $2 million dollar piece of equipment is something the hospital is looking to acquire and have up and running by the end of the year. The robot can be used in many general surgeries and offers quite a few benefits for patients. Vice President of Operations Suzanne Koehler says, "The surgery is often done with less invasion to the body, smaller incision sites or single incision sites in many of these procedures is becoming the norm." We'll have more on the da Vinci robot and its future at Rapid City Regional Hospital tonight at nine. Zach Nugent |
