Young charged with first degree murder |

The man accused of stabbing Morgan Myers to death in the Rapid City Walmart parking lot on April 26th made his first appearance in court Tuesday morning.
30-year Michael Young has been charged with first-degree murder, fetal homicide, felony violation of a protection order and stalking. .If convicted of those charges, Young could face the death penalty or as much as two life sentences plus three years. Young spoke softly while appearing before Seventh Circuit Magistrate Judge Heidi Linngren by video link from the Pennington Co. Jail and said he understands the charges he is facing.
An arraignment date is still to be set before Circuit Judge Janine Kern.Young had been hospitalized since April and was arrested as he was released from the hospital yesterday.Police say Young stabbed himself in the chest in a motel bathroom after the stabbing at Walmart.
