Quilters show off their handy work
Saturday, 09 June 2012 15:09
We buy blankets to keep us warm but we make quilts to make us smile. That was the summary Saturday from the folks who spend a lot of time and energy making quilts.

"It's American folk art," said one quilter today, who is showing off her collection of fabric creations. At the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center today, the Black Hills Quilter's Guild held its spring quilt show. There were thousands of quilts on display, created by hundreds of artists from all over the country.

Rebecca Smith says, "A lot of quilts are made just for comfort; for your grandchildren or the people that you love, to wrap up in and watch TV or something like that. And then we are getting more and more into the beautiful color and arrangements of the fabrics." The Black Hills Quilt Show continues tomorrow in the Rushmore Room at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
