House panel to weigh public unions' power
Wednesday, 08 February 2012 08:23
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) _ Public employee collective bargaining is on the agenda of a South Dakota House panel. A bill to limit the power of public unions is scheduled for a vote Wednesday by the House Commerce and Energy Committee. It would prohibit public employees from bargaining with state and public school districts or branches of public service. The bill does not bar public employees from expressing their views on conditions or compensation of public employment. Rep. Brian Liss, a Sioux Falls Republican, is the main sponsor. State Affairs voted to pass the bill to the Commerce and Energy Committee with a 12-0 vote on Monday. (Copyright 2012 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
