An old ranger station in Lawrence County is being recognized for its historical significance.
The Hardy Ranger Station took its place on the National Register of Historic Places in January. The National Register is the official list of the nation's historic places worthy of preservation .The state historic preservation officer and director of the State Historical Society say properties listed on the register are important for their role in South Dakota's culture, heritage and history. The Hardy Ranger Station was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps which employed thousands of people during that time. Buildings, sites, structures, and objects at least 50 years old that possess historical significance may qualify for the National Register.
