Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney went a little off script when he spoke at the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting Wednesday.
The Chamber of Commerce had asked the presidential contender to speak about promoting business in the community and his experience organizing the 2002 Winter Olympics.
But within seconds of walking to the microphone, Romney said he was going to take the opportunity to share some of his personal viewpoints since the crowd of nearly 2,000 people was one of the largest Chamber gatherings he had ever seen.
He said as president he would have a better understanding of free enterprise and how small businesses work and asked the crowd for their votes.
Chairwoman Barb Stork says the Chamber did not pay Romney for the speech. |
