| The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics says South Dakota's preliminary unemployment rate for June was unchanged from the May rate of 4.8 percent and up only one-tenth of a percent from the June 2010 rate. State Labor and Regulation Secretary Pam Roberts says that over the year, the number of employed people in the state's labor force increased by 4,000. She says South Dakota has seen several months of over-the-year employment growth. Industries adding the most workers include manufacturing, educational and health services, and professional and business services. Nationally, unemployment rose from 9.1 percent in May to 9.2 percent in June. AP |
