A man with a child in his vehicle was arrested Thursday morning after a car chase where speeds exceeded one hundred miles per hour. The chase started on Highway 40, when High Patrol officers began following 28–year–old Martin Catches. The chase then led to BIA Road 41. As the fleeing motorist entered the Pine Ridge Reservation at about 10:15 Thursday morning reservation police joined the pursuit. When he was finally apprehended, police officers had to use pepper spray to subdue Martin Catches. Prosecutors are deciding whether having the child in the vehicle will result in charges beyond speeding, reckless driving and resisting arrest. |
