MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) _ The chairman of the Judicial
Qualifications Commission said more than 10 people have applied for
a vacancy on the South Dakota Supreme Court.
Chairman Cris Palmer tells the Daily Republic newspaper that the
applicants will be interviewed later this month and will undergo
background checks.
Justice Judith Meierhenry is resigning from the Supreme Court.
The Judicial Qualifications Commission will recommend at least
two candidates to the governor, who will appoint someone to replace
Meierhenry.
