In January, a federal judge ruled that Congress did not have the authority to implement certain parts of the act.South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackely says it's not just being fought by Republicans some Democrats are now jumping on board. Jackley says, "There are now 26 states that are a part of that lawsuit. Virginia is also assisting in that lawsuit and most recently the Democrat Attorney General from Missouri, General Koster, has joined with the lawsuit and filed a friend of the court brief in support of the rest of the attorney generals." The Obama Administration has appealed the federal judge's ruling.A hearing date is scheduled for June 8th with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Megan Palera |
