From one technology to a group of technologically savvy School of Mines students. Team members with CAMP, the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing and Production design, build, market and raise money for their projects. Thursday those year-long projects were unveiled to the public: concrete canoes, steel bridges, snowmobiles and much more. In attendance were local elementary students. Formula SAE Project Manager Jesse Rydell says, "It's presentations like this, our mall expo, going to car shows, competing at local auto crosses and showing our family how fast the vehicle is and all the engineering that we put into it, it gives us a sense of pride. Even if it's for children like this, seeing the looks on their faces - it makes us feel better about ourselves and inspiring them as well is something we look forward to doing." Most of these projects will go on to compete in national competitions next month. Metgan Palera |
