Gaming day gets kids to the library
Wednesday, 05 January 2011 15:45
After a long day hitting the books, some Rapid City kids got the chance to rock out at the local library. Nearly 20 kids were at the Rapid City Public Library Wednesday afternoon for Gaming Day.

The kids were playing everything from Rock Band to Wii Sports.Library programming associate Susan Braunstein says events like these help get young people in the door. Ben Kruger says, "Because I get to play games that I normally don't get to play, and it's really fun." Lucas Stoick says, "Because that way you can go and focus yourself on something else." Braunstein says, "When they're in the library, they are also interested in other things, like videos and books, cd's. So it's an entry point, and it's a way to keep them excited about coming into the library." The downtown Rapid City Public Library offers the game days twice a month.
